Simple decorative origami heart / book mark by ninjacow258

This is an easy origami heart, great for rookies and pros :)

Since I officially suck at explaining, the pictures may help you more than my description of the step.

Also, since the bottom of the heart opens, you can also use it as a book mark.

Step 1: Step 1: paper

I used printer paper for the instructable, but origami paper or any other will do.
Cut it into two connected squares.

They're called "squash folds" :)

Except step 8 where I "overfolded" a little bit too much, excellent instructable. I would love to see your instructable on the tulips from the last step, those look great too.

Hey! At least ninjacow said at the beginning that he/she wasn't good at explaining things. i think that they did a pretty good job at explaining anyway
TheGeekFather says: Jul 24, 2011. 2:42 PM
I agree. The pictures pretty much tell the story. You do not really need to write anything more. Good job.
Blechmen says: Feb 12, 2011. 1:10 PM
how big is the paper
ninjacow258 (author) says: May 2, 2011. 5:18 PM
The paper size really doesn't matter, as long as one side is twice as long as the other.

it reminds me of the kusudama flower because it has similar folds and although this isnt a flower, it appears like that one. Also, they're both beautiful and easy to make. Anyways, thumbs up. Nice project. Easy steps, and looks great. thanks a bundle. (: i just made one

This was such a great instructable! It was very easy to make. Even though it is said that the explanations are not great; the pictures really made up for it.

Great instructions. They were easy to follow even though you doubted yourself. My only critique would be that you should use paper where each side is a different color (like origami paper) this will make your images more clear since the folders will know which side to show. Otherwise great instructable keep it up

This is a really cool Valentine's day project; your explanations were easy to follow. I would have liked to watch your video, but when I clicked the link, it had been taken down.  Thank you for sharing this neat project.

It might be the simplicity involved in the making of the heart, but strangely this is one of the easiest origami tutorials I've seen for something that actually looks nice! Very clear pictures, I think. Thanks!

I was a bit confused for about a third of this but i figured it out.  my heart came out really pretty.  This would be great of you made a video to go along with it. :)

hoshi_neon says: Aug 25, 2009. 4:30 AM
it's simple to understand .... until the 7th step. Could you explain it a bit more?
ninjacow258 (author) says: Aug 31, 2009. 2:49 PM
Well...let's see *scratch head*...In that step, the origami is basically a square-ish shape, right? So, you currently have 4 corners. 2 opposing corners are loose, and if you fold one of those 2 corners backwards (mountain fold) then it would be outta sight when you look at it from the front. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out which two corners can be folded :)

Oh. Thanks a lot :)
