I had a real weed problem in the front yard and bed. The home owners assn threatened bloody murder if I did not take care of it. I searched the web and found a weed killer that puts the commercial stuff to shame and it is a lot safer on the environment. I have not had to weed in several months. It is probably time for a second application this year.

Step 1: Ingredients.

1 gallon or thereabouts of the cheapest vinegar. s/b under 2 dollars.
1 container table salt. s/b under 50 cents.
2 tablespoons liquid detergent for washing dishes or such. whole bottle should be under a dollar.
Extra container the size of the vinegar container.

Tools
1 sprayer unless you want to splash it out manually.

Step 2:

Into the extra empty bottle put 2 tbls of the soap. Add 1/2 or about 1 cup of salt into the extra bottle. Add about 1/2 or so of the vinegar into the other bottle. Cover the other bottle and shake to mix the ingredients. Lastly add the rest of the vinegar into the other bottle. recover again a shake slightly. Pour into sprayer container and use the sprayer as the manual recommends. Go around and spray where weeds are or will be. You will see weeds start dying within hours. This concoction puts the commercial stuff to shame. I like to use it around the a/c with a heavy dose. One good thing as it really does not seem to affect the grass.
