Using a Large Piece of Thick (Industrial Like) Card, by cutting measured slits and holes to slot into. Please see instructions for further explaination.

Step 1: Materials and First Step

For the card, I used some thick plastic type industrial printing card, foam board would work simularly but make sure you dont cut all the way through for the folds, it maybe more difficult with this foam type material.

Get your piece of card and work out how big you want the top part of your table, the bigger the piece of card, the bigger you can have your top surface without having tiny sides (legs).

Once you have worked out how big you want your top surface, measure your card's total length and minus the top surface length. Divide the left over amount by four, (this is for your sides/legs).
With this amount, depending on your measurements, make the first cut (inside leg) slightly longer than the outside (2nd) leg, approximately between 1-2cm's depending on what your measurements are.

For example: I had card which was 125cm long, I wanted a top surface of 30cm, which meant my sides were 24.5cm-inside, 1st cut, and 23cm-outside, 2nd leg.

Then measure this out for each end and mark it on your card with the pencil.

Step 2: Make Your Fold Cuts and Fold It Up!

Make the fold cuts on your pencil lines (using a metal ruler and stanley knife) but DONT cut all the way through the card board. Ideally your material will be thick enough to have two outside layers and some substance inbetween the two, if this is the case, just cut through the external layer not both.

You want to make the fold cuts first and check your measurements line up before making the last of the cuts to make the holder section.

After you do so, make some measurements on the ends of each side of your card to put the table together. I recommend three is probably enough but more will add more stability. My card was approximatley 35cm wide and I made 3 tabs measuring 5cm's each spaced apart. You want to cut these about 1cm in, but again this will depend on the thickness of your card.

Once you have made your tabs, measure out your inserts on the top level piece of card in the middle. Appromixatley 0.5cm wide (again dependant on your card). You dont want to make this too big, if anything make it slightly smaller. I also folded my card up to check my measurements before cutting them.

You want to make sure also that the outside tabs are at least 1cm away from the outside edges as if this splits it will make it very wobbly!

After all your cuts are mad, simply fold it up and your away. Pretty handy for if your in bed or on the couch with your laptop for example. Hope you enjoy my simple idea!
