Single Cardboard Cubbies

I've already been thinking of changing my closet for some time, my intention was to add some shelves, organize the socks on drawers and add support for the hangers. This would be done with cardboard boxes.

In this instructable i will show you how to make the Single cubbies.

Já a algum tempo que penso em mudar o meu armário, a minha intenção era criar umas "prateleiras" organizar as meias nas gavetas e adicionar o suporte para os cabides, isto tudo seria feito com caixas de cartão.

Neste instructable vou mostrar-vos como fazer uns "cubbies" (nome dado a este estilo de prateleiras)

Step 1: Necessary Materials / Materiais Necessários

In this project we will need:

White glue for wood, half a bottle of water, brush, level, ruler, pencil, x-act, and plenty of boxes :)

Cola branca para madeira, metade de uma garrafa de agua ou uma lata, pincel, nível, régua, lápis e bastantes caixas :)

Because only have found a lot of these boxes I had to think of the best way to follow my idea.

The idea would be to glue several layers of cardboard, creating a "cube" to be strong enough for clothing

Devido ao facto de apenas ter tido acesso a estas caixas, eu tive que encontrar a melhor maneira para continuar com a minha ideia.

A minha ideia era colar varias camadas de cartão, criando assim um "cubo" (aberto) resistente o suficiente para colocar roupa.

Step 3: Cut the Box Parts / Corte Das Partes Da Caixa

I opened the boxes and used the widest part to the base and the smallest part to the sides.

My intention was to create a plug-in to improve the assembly.

So on the side I took the original cut of the box to create the plug-in I used 6 layers of cardboard.

In this case 3 layers with 0,9cm card for plug-in and other 3 layers cut from one face to another, to support the base. (image 4)

Eu abri as caixas e usei a parte mais ampla para a base e a parte mais pequena para os lados.

A minha intenção era criar um encaixe para facilitar a montagem.

Então nas partes de lado usei o corte original da caixa para criar o encaixe, eu usei 6 camadas de cartão.

Neste caso 3 camadas 0,9cm de cartão para o encaixe e outras 3 camadas cortadas de uma face a outra para suportar a base. (imagem 4)

Step 4: Gluing the Parts / Colagem Das Partes

Side parts

On side parts i glue 3 layers with the plug-in and over them the other 3 layers without plug-in to support the base.

For this I used white glue, I added just a bit of water to get a little more liquid, but not much.

it is advisable to use a wood board or something smooth to put pressure on the layers

Partes de lado

Nas parte de lado eu colei 3 camadas com o encaixe e sobre elas outras 3 camadas sem o encaixe para suportar a base.

para isso usei cola branca, eu adicionei um pouco de agua na cola para ficar mais liquida, mas não muita.

é aconselhável usar uma tábua ou algo liso para pôr pressão sobre as camadas

Step 5: Gluing the Parts / Colagem Das Partes

On the bases I just glued the 6 layers and only then did the cuts for docking. (image 2)

The cuts have the follow measures, (image 2) for best results I had to reduce the size of the plug hole, to 0.7cm so the fit gets tighter. (image 2)

before gluing the bases must be careful to leave the hole space without glue (image 1), to facilitate cutting, in this case I forgot this detail then the cut was harder. (Video 2)

Nas bases eu simplesmente colei as 6 camadas de cartão e só depois cortei os buracos para o encaixe (imagem 2)

O corte dos buracos tem as medidas apresentadas na imagem 2, para melhores resultados eu tive que reduzir o tamanho do buraco para 0,7cm de espessura para o encaixe ficar mais apertado.

antes de colar as bases convém deixar um espaço sem cola para facilitar o corte do buraco (imagem 1), neste caso eu esqueci me desse pormenor então tive um pouco de dificuldade em cortar o buraco. (vídeo 2)

Step 6: Mounting / Montagem

This is the best part, just put glue on the side within the slots, mount the parts and put pressure on the box, verifies that the box is level.

I left the box up pressure for 1 day to make sure that would be very glued.

Esta é a melhor parte, basta colocar cola nas partes de lado e nos buracos, montar as partes, pôr pressão e verificar se a caixa está de nível.

Eu deixei a caixa sobe pressão durante 1 dia para certificar-me de que ficaria bem colada.

Step 7: Decoration / Decoração

On decoration you can paint the box the color you want, or cover whit white paper or newsletter is up to you..
