I wanted to make some cupcakes and I thought, why not make them Halloween themed. I can't remember how I finally decided on doing these skeleton cupcakes, but I'm happy with how they turned out. The plan started with making candy melt graves and when I tried to make gray candy melts for the graves, I quickly found out it was impossible (at least for me). Luckily, my genius husband suggested going with the old time wooden crosses as grave makers and things went smoothly from there.

Step 1: What You Need

Gather up your supplies. Not all are absolutely necessary, but this is what I used.

 • Cupcake Mix (chocolate would be good if you want the cupcake to be like the dirt in the graveyard)
 • Green Frosting
 • White Candy Melts (you will not use a whole bag, I didn't even use half)
 • Cocoa Candy Melts (you will not use a whole bag, I didn't even use half)
 • Chocolate Flavored Jimmies (Sprinkles)
 • Cupcake Liners (if you want them, I used what I had left and then did the rest just in the pan, you will need cooking spray if you don't use liners)
 • Cupcake Pan
 • Black Food Coloring
 • Paper Towels
 • Wax Paper
 • Zip Lock Bags
 • Cling Wrap
 • Wilton Piping Tips (I used the round tips size 2 for the skeletons and size 5 for the grave markers)
 • Various Utensils: Spoon, knife...

hi this is pretty cool for Halloween thank ur husband for the awesome idea from me

Very good design, most halloween cupcakes I see that try to pull off genuine eeriness don't pull it off this well.

I wonder if there's a way to finagle chocolate-covered pretzels for crosses..though they wouldn't look as realistic as these.

Super late reply here. I'm sure you could do pretzels covered in chocolate. You would just have to stick two together while they are both still wet and then once it is hardened, you might even want to dip the whole cross in chocolate again to make it solid.
