Riding on the coattails of
jtisserand's excellent instructable on a tablet stand, I made my own version with a slim DVD case, since I had a bunch of those lying around. Here's what you'll need:
-
1 Slim DVD case (like those found here)
-
About 6" of 12 gauge solid insulated wire (like this)
-
Hot glue and a the associated gun
-
A sharp object to cut thin plastic (I used a box cutter)
The slim cases I used have little rectangular holes next to the booklet holder tabs where I inserted the wire. See the picture. I bent the wire upwards into the case, and hot glued it to the inside of the case. Then, I bent the outside part of the wire upwards and hot glued a cap on the end of the wire to prevent pad scratching. The insulation already on the wire provides a nice soft, yet slightly rubber grippy surface for the tablet edge.
Then, I hot glued the wire inside the case to make it keep the inverted V shape. See pictures.
This is all very straightforward, so I won't bother to go into too much more detail.
I estimate the total cost of this project to be about $1.50 if you had to buy hot glue, wire and a DVD case.
Unfortunately I accidently deleted the text of my instructable and i'm too lazy to rewrite it.
Now I have to find a case after throwing them away and storing DVDs in
CD Cases...Drat !
