How to make simple, cheap, yet effective sling shot pellets.

In this instructable I will describe different types of ammo you can make for your sling shot.

This is my first instructable, so please be patient and comment to help me improve.

I will show you how to make hard pallets, soft pouncy pallents, and U-shaped metal pallets.

This is the part where I will show you how to make hard pellets.

What you need is:
1. a strip of hard rubber
2. electical insulating duct tape (any color you like.)
3. marker (opional if you want to draw or color your pellet)
4. Scissors

Lets Start...

1. Choose the size of the rubber you want. This all depends on the size of your sling shot. I chose a size of 2cm by 5cm.
2. Mark the size with your marker.
3. Then cut the rubber to the size you decided.

Dollar Store marbles are good cheap ammo, as are pennies. Penny ammo makes a nice buzzing sound when you shoot them. Also go to bulk food store and check out the dry beans and seeds, cheap light not too super dangerous ammo. Marbles can wound humans and kill small beasts.

this is great, but where do you get rubber?
Jun 29, 2008. 4:07 AMPhoghat says:
1. Bicycle inner tubes. 2. good surgical rubber tubing ( local drug store/medical hardware) BTW: You know of course that to be somewhat accurate, the ammo should be round?
May 12, 2009. 2:46 PMAntiEvolutionQP says:
inner tubes arent that good, depends what type, but rubber bands are OK, and surgical tubing tops the list!

I used the rubber stuff from a windshield wiper.

the rubber I used was from a bike inner tube. I got a broken one for free at my local bike shop!

I know where to get a more efficient bouncy ammo... BOUNCY BALL! lol, they cost a quarter each and dont waste a keyboard! I should make a shotgun round! Pellets fly everywhere! That'll learn 'em dem' birds! Cool thanx.
May 12, 2009. 5:17 PMPhoghat says:
A shot gun round sounds like a good idea, but how would you make it? You would need some kind of sabot to hold bird shot, and some way of making sure the shot and sabot separated so that it doesn't hit something at the same time. Maybe instead of a leather pouch for the ammo, you could put some kind of cup attached to the rubber bands so that the sabot stayed attached to the slingshot?

my dad sugested using the blow up tube from the inner part of a bike wheel instead of rubber bands. would it work?he says its like a big rubber band.....

It only sometimes works if they are very good quality, i tried some the other day and all it did was stretch and stay in that shape=P

my first instructable is going to be an arrow band for a sling shot plus special arrows
Jul 15, 2008. 3:45 PMCamisado says:
Good, but the way I see it, a slingshot is a weapon used to hurt someone, and a hard pebble would probably be better than the pellets here..... But Nice Job!!
Jan 23, 2008. 1:52 PMfutbolfreak129 says:
for this one, the bouncy ammo, if you were wanting it to actually bounce, couldnt you just use a super ball? and if not so much, some sort of foam(ish) ball?

Your instructable is really cool, and now I can defend myself against my sister. But there's just one problem. One step 4 on the 1st pic, I won't be able to see what's in the 2 tiny boxes. I know It's probably not important but it's good practice to not do that. Nice instructabe!
Aug 30, 2007. 6:21 AMthebluemartyr says:
neat, but if you want "bouncy" ammo go to the nearest dollar store and grap a bag of bouncy balls, but you should get a high powered hunting singshot for this idea, they're 15 bucks at canadian tire eh.

good point, keep the instructables comin m8.
