In the past, while searching in the pantry, for something I knew I had, I used to always end up singing the chorus from the U2 song "I still haven't found what I'm looking for." All the stuff mixes up together and ends up looking the same. Even worse, you can't even see what is towards the back. With this organizer box, you can keep your shelves tidy by putting groups of similar items together and be able to find them when you need them. Having similar items together in one box is very handy when baking, simply pull out the whole box that contains all the normal baking necessities, flour, sugar, baking powder, etc. and then put them all back at once, when finished.
Step 1: Materials
You will need one cardboard box to make two sloped sided organizer boxes. I used disposable diaper boxes. I know it is a contradiction that I am re-purposing the container of a disposable diaper when I could be using reusable diapers, but oh well. If you can find a box that has the same depth of the shelf that you are wanting to organize, use it.
You will also need some tape.
Step 2: Tools
You will need:
1. Something to measure with (I used a framing square)
2. Something to mark with (I used a Sharpie)
3. Something to cut with (I used a utility knife)
4. Something to help mark and cut straight lines (I used the framing square, but a board would work just as well)
Step 3: Tape the box closed
Tape your box closed top and bottom.
Step 4: Measure and Mark
Measure how tall your box is. Decide what type of slope you want on your sides and proceed.
The box I used was 12 inches tall. I wanted them to be 4 inches tall in the front and 8 inches tall at the back.
Mark the front and back first and then connect the two lines with two lines on the side.
Step 5: Cut
Cut along the four lines that you marked. Use a straightedge to help cut clean lines.
