Small Scale Team Fortress 2 Grenade Launcher Model

A small model of the TF2 Demoman's grenade launcher made from scrap material.

Step 1: Materials

This is a pretty simple model that didn't take long to make and looks great on a desk or coffee table.

You'll need:

2" 3/4" PVC pipe (1x)
1-1/4" 1/2" PVC pipe (6x)
Plastic cap to an aerosol can (preferably one with a beveled edge on one end)
Grip-Rite Fas'ners Tin Cap Disks
Wood (I used 1/2" ish pine I had lying around)

Paint
Wood Stain
Glue or epoxy
Double sided tape (optional)
Sandpaper
Scissors
Knife
Saw (Jig saw or scroll saw is recommended)

Larger block of wood and 2 nails to build the stand

Step 2: Cutting and Shaping

After cutting the PVC into appropriate lengths, cut out the middle of the cap and glue the top to the bottom (make sure to use a lighter to melt the fringes)

Then cut 2 rectangles out of a disk and bend them at a 90 degree angle and glue them between 2 disks (see the diagram below).

Next, cut out the stock and grip out of wood. You can print out a template if you want, but I just drew an outline from looking at the picture. I recommend a jigsaw or scroll saw if you have one. Don't forget to give it a good sanding.

Step 3: Painting and Staining

I used black plastidip for all of the plastic parts and a walnut stain for the wood.

Note the holes in the bottom for mounting on the stand.

Step 4: Trigger and Crosshair

The trigger and crosshair are both made from strips cut from the tin.

The crosshair can be made much larger to look like the original if you like. It can be mounted with double sided tape and then painted.

The triggerguard and trigger are just 2 strips inserted into grooves in the wood put in by a knife. (Make sure to put glue in the grooves first)

Step 5: Assembly

Glue all of the chambers to the back, then the aerosol cap to the revolver portion.

Glue the barrel to the cap and give the whole thing another coat of paint.

I used automotive double sided tape to attach the stock and handrest because I had it lying around, but epoxy would work well as well ( and be less visible)

Step 6: Display Stand/Finishing

The stand is really basic. It's just a painted (or stained if you prefer) block of wood with nails through it that line up with the holes on the gun.I put duck tape on the bottom as a lazy way of preventing the nails from scratching anything rather than countersinking.

And there you have it- a nice, cheap display piece for the gamer in us all.
