Cut the holes in the wall like in the diagram, a vent on the bottom and on top for each stud section. Watch out for electrical wiring, etc.
My vents are 4" x 16"
The cuts are not pretty, use foil tape to trim the inside edge of the vents

This was the toughest part because I didn't have a good saw.

Hello, I am a big advocate of DIY but this piece should at least mention the lateral strength reduction which occurs if you do this. OSB or Plywood sheathing is a major part of most construction's earthquake strength. Holes drilled and spaced out would significantly improve this design from a structural perspective as long as you know where the studs are located. For a garage or chicken coop this isn't generally as important as in the case of a house. As you mentioned, preventing the warm air from leaving at night should be a required part of this design.
