in the parts list he took a solar cell from one of those cheap outdoor lights you stick in the ground... I will make a walmart run to see which ones are the best or if they are all the same...

I know they have rechargeable packs that they sell for personal electronics, but I'm not sure if they make any with solar cells... One possible alternative might be one of those 'all-in-one' emergency kits that have the 5v chargers built in. Most of those have like solar and hand crank charging built in...
