Introduction: Solar Power Jack Lantern
We are always busy with works, relationship, the economy, president election, efficiency, productivity , blar blar blar. Something big, something serious.
I believe doing small things can also has some impact, at least make yourself happier.
Halloween is coming (and will go soon)! Let's celebrate it.
Step 1: Step 1: Crave a Pumpkin
materials you need:
1 Pumpkin
knife
many alligators (for testing/pre set)
wires
1 led light bulb
1 battery box
2 AAA batteries
1 diode
2 small solar panels
For the small solar panels, you could get it from garden lights or small solar panel websites, such as solar pocket factory ,brown dog gadgets .
Step 2: Step 2: Draw the Patterns
Choose the patterns you like.
Since this is my first time craving a pumpkin, I just pick one funny pattern from Google picture.
Then start it!
Step 3: Step 3 : Testing Before the Soldering
I use the alligator from my workplace to link everything together. You don't really fo through this step if you already know how to wire up the parts.
Diode could prevent current to flow back from battery box to the solar panel, so I soldered it on the panels.
However, if the battery box has a on/off button, we don't need it.
Step 4: Step 4: Stick the Solar Panel to the Sunglass
Place the solar panel on the sunglass with double sided tape.
Wire up the panel with LED light bulb and rechargeable battery.
Test it with solar light / real sun light
Step 5: Step 5: Decorate the Pumpkin the Way You Like
Here is how it looks in the night!
To scare your friends, put a (plastic)cockroach in the eyes of Jack, that works!
Try it, very simple but good decoration with green energy.
Have fun!
