Sir, can I use DIAC DB3 instead of BR100 and TRIAC BT136/600D instead of BT131?

Can I use my 65W/240V AC iron?

I will be building the circuit on veroboard. Please mention the live and neutral channel in your circuit. Also I'm planning to use a wire direct from the iron body to earth to prevent shock from leakage current.

what do we calibrate? Please explain that part.

Hi syedhamzahasan,

if you trace back the schematic, you would find that the pot 470k is used to fire the TRIAC bt131. and since you are going to rotate the pot left&right for desired temp. u may want to calibrate (write done on the soldering iron) the actual temp for every position. hope this helps.
