Introduction: Soldering SMD (Surface Mounted Devices) - Using BriteBits

Picture of Soldering SMD (Surface Mounted Devices) - Using BriteBits

There are many ways to hand solder SMD parts. We made a video of three common ways to hand solder these small parts, gluing, tacking down one corner, and using solder paste. We are using lead-free solder for our demonstration.

We included one method that doesn't work. This should show the difference between these methods and just throwing solder at the problem.

The boards we are soldering are called BriteBits. They are essentially a color matched miniature breakout board for adding LEDs to a breadboard project. They simplify the process, by including the resistor on the PCB.

We are currently running a Kickstarter project to fund the first production batch of these boards. You can view the project here:

Enough with the introduction, let's get on with the show...

I saw a link to a product, and one image as a tutorial. Perhaps I missed something?
