I hate left over pizza. Reheating in the oven takes too long and microwaving it just makes the crust hard. Knowing this I decided to try something a little different. Being southern born and raised I instantly thought of deep frying! Now before you turn your nose up to it... Give it a try.

I can't give exact amounts because you are making a batter, and well I've never measured anything that I put into a batter so these are approximations.

What you will need:

Left over pizza
1&1/2Cups Milk
2 Eggs
1&1/4 Cups Flour
Salt & Pepper (to Taste)
Garlic Powder (optional)
Red Pepper Flakes (also optional)
Cooking oil (for frying)

Yes, I think I would give up five years of being in a wheelchair and crapping in a bag to start eating that on a regular basis.
foreverxnickyxlove says: Mar 16, 2010. 4:21 PM
This sounds delicious! :]

i wonder what bacon would taste deep fried..... mmmmmm..... bacon.
yavid in reply to meanbeanJul 2, 2009. 1:02 PM
Deep fried bacon tastes just like regular bacon. I used to work at a restaurant and on Sunday morning breakfast we'd deep fry all of our bacon (it was faster).

Texas State Fair FoodTexas State Fair in Dallas and the Houston Rodeo both sell chicken-fried bacon. I've had it, its so good it makes you hurt, and I do mean hurt, seriously I thought I felt my heart slow down after eating it.

Deep fried bacon is too good....should be a food group unto itself
Kiwipancakes says: Jun 18, 2009. 9:15 AM
This sounds awesome and delicious though I have a question. Does the pizza has to be cold when you fry it or can it come straight from a hot pizza box you just ordered?
Gh0stT0wnC0wb0y (author) in reply to KiwipancakesJun 19, 2009. 1:24 PM
I have no clue. I'm sure you could I just wouldn't cook it as long.

jongscx in reply to hedgiehogJan 11, 2009. 1:02 PM
At the Rennaisance Faire here in georgia... 2 scoops of Vanilla Ice-cream... sandwiched in white bread...soaked in melted chocolate and let to solidify... dipped in pancake batter... deep fried... drizzled in chocolate and caramel syrup... dusted with powdered sugar... and topped with sugar-stewed strawberries... only 500 calories...
siege engines ahoy in reply to jongscxJan 13, 2009. 3:56 PM

You only live once, might as well do it right!

Bomb idea, I deep fry falafel all the time, might have to do this with leftover pizza, though certainly not Dominoes, BLECH!

Chain pizza = bad! Support local businesses!
jongscx in reply to goodgnusJan 11, 2009. 12:59 PM
I dunno, SOMETIMES I'd rather get a $10 large pizza than have to pay $5 for a slice...
iman59 in reply to goodgnusJan 10, 2009. 3:11 PM
I totally agree with u that chain pizza sucks and to support local buisinesses.

jeff-o says: Jan 9, 2009. 3:53 AM
Oh wow, ditto on the previous unhealthy remarks - but this sure looks tasty at the same time! Personally, I'm very happy with cold pizza straight from the fridge, with no cooking. I've heard that reheating it on a frying pan works well, though I've never tried it.
Sooner Aviator in reply to jeff-oJan 9, 2009. 6:38 AM
My favorite way to reheat pizza, if Im not too lazy and just eat it cold, is to add a little butter in a fry pan and heat it up slowly with a lid. This way the toppings get all melted and gooey, and the bottom of the crust is crisp and buttery! MMMMmmmmmmmm!
jeff-o in reply to Sooner AviatorJan 9, 2009. 7:24 AM
That's exactly what I was thinking of, though depending on how greasy the pizza was in the first place you may not need the butter. ;)

No green tomatoes? and no milk gravy? I would have to wash that down with a Mountain Dew.
Huray4Insanity says: Jan 9, 2009. 4:15 AM
maybe you could put some fried crawfish on top
Gh0stT0wnC0wb0y (author) in reply to Huray4InsanityJan 9, 2009. 4:59 AM
A local restaurant sells a seafood pizza. I bet that fried with a cram sauce and crayfish on it would be AWESOME!
awang8 says: Jan 9, 2009. 3:26 AM
Sounds delicious! I love pizza and I love fried stuff. Sounds just right!

Argh... My arteries...

Anyway, what kind of Dominos box is that? In Australia we've got Dominos but it's just a plane old square cardboard box.
Gh0stT0wnC0wb0y (author) in reply to awang8Jan 9, 2009. 4:58 AM
Eh it's a North American box
Chicken2209 says: Jan 8, 2009. 12:44 PM
oooh, sounds healthy but I've never had the problem with the crusts in the microwave from experience, the microwave actually makes it soggy like when you put french fries in there, they dont come out the same
awang8 in reply to Chicken2209Jan 9, 2009. 3:30 AM
Thats true... Microwaves can't turn pizza to rock. Rather it turns pizza into mush...
