Thats good that you practice common sense. I was just saying that my friends and I did not, and that we were wreckless, when I look back at those times now. Mind you, that was the first time we thought of that type of sparkler bomb, so we didn't know what to expect from it. I remember that I felt the shock wave from that distance. But again, we were wreckless, because if we hadn't tested that type of bomb before then we should have assumed worst case cenarios and taken a safer approach to trying it.

@stevolution Yep. I was about to post an instructable on this same thing, but using a classic glass coke bottle with a plastic lid. The glass bottle explodes with a huge bang sound and of course pleanty of glass shrapnel.

The first time my friends and I tried that we were only sitting about 5 m away from the bottle (we were stupid 14 yr old hoodlems back then). One of my friends got a cut above his eye and another on his finger from the shrapnel. The rest of us were lucky not to cop it in the eye.

The explosion leaves an indent of the bottom of the bottle in the concrete of the ground. BE CAREFULL WITH THAT.

I would like to hear how others compare this bomb (using a plastic lid to cause the bottle to explode) sound to other "bombs" (perhaps just fire crackers). I will post an instructable if people request, but its just the same as this one only using a plastic lid (as stevolution stated). For that style of bomb you seriously want to be far far away.

About 8 years ago a friend of mine made one of these and ended up with a shard of glass lodged in his eyebrow. Though this guy used a plastic lid, which provides a better seal, higher pressure and a powerful explosion. He was a moron.
