Introduction: Spicy Fried Fish
I am an extreme fisherman I have been a fisherman all my life I never go fishing and don’t catch something, in fact my wife Ann calls “Gone Fishing” to “Gone Shopping.” I even make my own rods and lures.
Lately I have been fishing for Freshwater Drum Pike and trout off Georgian Bay, and after fishing I was checking to see if the Wild Leeks and Fiddle heads were up. I prefer Pike about 18 inches Drum about 12 inches and Trout about 16 inches, these sizes make ideal filets to suit my wife and sons.
Eating fish as often as I do can make meals a bit teadeous if you only cook fish one way. This is my spicy fried fish recipe and this first dish is a Pike filet with creamy chicken pasta.
Step 1: Video of Me Fishing

Step 2: Ingredients
First I gather the ingredients, boneless skinless fish filets, Soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Black Pepper, Paprika, Garlic Powder, and water.
Step 3: The Marinade
The marinade is made one once of Soy sauce, one once of Worcestershire sauce, ¼ tea spoon of Black Pepper, and ¼ tea spoon of Garlic Powder mixed with 3 cups of cold water. Put the fish filets in a bowel and add the marinade to the bowel, if it does not cover the fish filets completely, add a little cold water until the filets are covered. Place the marinating fish filets in the refrigerator to chill for 30 minutes.
Step 4: Spicing the Fish Filets
After the filets have been marinating for 30 minutes take them out of the refrigerator, remove the fillets from the bowl, and spread them out on a large tray to spice.
Dust the one side of the filets lightly with Black Pepper, Garlic Powder, and Paprika.
Step 5: Cooking the Fish Filets
Heat the hotplate to 450degrees and add the butter.
Place the filets with the spiced side down.
Dust the topside of the filets lightly with Black Pepper, Garlic Powder, and Paprika.
Cook the filets until the spices start to brown flip the filets over and cook the other side until brown.
Cooking takes about five minutes.
Step 6: Dinner Is Served
I cooked this Freshwater Drum with my Spicy Fried Fish recipe, made chicken flavored rice and added my cooked Wild Leeks smothered in butter. The Wild Leeks soften when they cook so they look much smaller on the plate than in the bowl or pot. It’s is a shame Wild Rice doesn’t grow around where I live or I would have had a meal completely from the forest.
