Make your own ghostly project with just a gourd and some paint. Simple yet scary! Muhuhahaha!

Step 1: Find an Appropriate Gourd for Your Project.

To make this creepy craft, you need a gourd and some acrylic paint. Now, finding the perfect gourd can be very challenging. Often you won't find the gourd with the perfect shape size that you wanted. But to make things a little easier, try visting a gourd patch if there is one near your house. There, you can choose from a large variety. Another alternative is to go to the local market though you won't find a wide variety of selections. You can also grow your own gourd but it takes lots of time,patience and energy. So, I recommend visiting a patch or goin' to the local market.

Step 2: The Paints and Tools of Trade

Now that you have your gourd, it's time to paint it.
For painting you'll need-
1) White acrylic paint( the type you use to paint your clothes, it's called fabric paint)
2) Black paint(same type)
3) sand paper
4) Brushes (a broad wall paint brush and a no.8 flat paintbrush-pics given below)

Step 3: Laying on the White Coats

It's time to lay on the first coat. Take the white paint and mix it with water until it becomes runny. Then with the wall paint brush, lay on a first coat. Then leave it to dry for some time. Then reduce the quantity of water and start laying on the coats. Plain any ridges with the sandpaper. Then leave it to dry overnight.

Step 4: Giving the Gourd Sense Organs

Now that you have completed the base coat, you have to add facial features. Paint it on with the flat brush and black paint. If you are having trouble, refer to my photos below.

Step 5: Final Touches

It is finally the time to add finishing touches. After your gourd has dried, give it a coat of varnish. Don't apply it on all parts. Do it mainly on the facial features( specially eyes) for the creepy look. You can also add red eyeballs.
