This instructable will show you how to build a Pneumatic cannon utilizing a modified sprinkler valve. Yes, I know that this has been done before, and there are a few other good instructables on this subject, but what sets this one apart is the valve modification. I have noticed on other instructables they merely tell you to "go to spudfiles and figure it out yourself." This took quite a bit of research on my part to figure out exactly how to do this correctly. Therefore, the main focus of this instructable will be the modification of the sprinkler valve. also, there will be no image notes until the bug gets fixed, sorry.

Step 1: Disclaimer

This is so important, it requires it's own step. DO NOT!!!!! UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!!! USE CELLCORE PIPE!!!!! IT WILL EXPLODE AND YOU WILL DIE!!!!! also, never pressurize this cannon above 100psi. That is the ABSOLUTE maximum to EVER take an air cannon. Also, this is very dangerous. undertake this project at your own risk, and fully understand that this cannon has the potential to explode at any point and time. Oh yea, one more thing.... DON'T USE CELLCORE PIPE!!!!

not if you do it right. a boom coming from anywhere other than the end of the barrel is BAD!

I have the exact same valve as u do. I tried your mod and It doesn't seem to work well.. Does it matter which way u place the valve?

yes it does. I should have clarified this more in the instrucatable. there will be 2 arrows, both pointing the same direction (i added an image note in step 3 to clarify). this denotes the direction the air will flow through the valve, as they only flow one way.

whats the sliver of 1/2" diameter pvc for?

are you talking about the piece attached to the rubber band on the blowgun valve? that would be the safety. it prevents the valve from actuating until the piece is romoved. I added this after I almost took my head off with the slug i was shooting.
