and replace it with a micro microphone. I took the microphone from an old computer

Step 6:

Step 7:

and place it inside the earphones

Step 8:

Finally close the earphone

Step 9:

Picture of

To make the spy microphone work, you have to dissolder the other earphone too.. but leave the earphone inside so that it has the same weight as a normal one just dissolder the two cables so that it just doesn't work anymore as earphone: you have to do this to let the spy microphone in the other earphone work!

Step 10:

Picture of

Close all the casing and here it is your spy microphone! it works very well too if you leave the fake earphone in one of your ears as you were listening to music while you are speaking with someone! HAVE FUN AND THANKS FOR WATCHING.

ipod earphones work without modification as a microphone. The sound quality isn't as good, but if you just plug ipod earphones into your computers microphone port they will act like a microphone.

how do you know which wire to connect to which side of the microphone???

hi jules15,
if u r using an electret mic then there r 2 terminals at the back of the mic. The terminal which is connected 2 the metal body of the mic is the negative end and the other terminal wich is not not connected 2 nething is the +ve end and to check the polarity of the wires dat wer connected 2 d speaker use an led which is polarity specific! In dat way u can easily find out, I hope it was useful!!

sweet thanks brotha.

u r welcome!!!

The title is misleading.. it should have been "Fake ipod earphones that can be used as spy mic"

And the recording device needs a 3.5mm input?!

Domenik (author)Power-Inside2011-08-22

right ;) thought it was to long.. yes of course

Sorry...this project is very nice but i did not understand how it works...remove the earphones ok, replace one with microphone ok ...but those cables carry the audio from the player, as you can to register? I don't understand this step... thank you

Swap the word register for record.
The Headphones will become a microphone, what I think nikk985 means is that they will not work with the ipod but will work when pluged into something that will record.

Domenik (author)gexall2009-11-09

yes obviously as i said they will work plugged into a walkman or a small recorder.. what i meant is that other people when they see this classic ipod earphones they will think that you are listening to music.. but in real you are recording what they are saying throught a mini recorder in your pocket where the earphones are plugged in.

This is great and your english was fine. You could even plug it in to a regular MP3 player and record your audio!

Domenik (author)2009-09-25

you do not put the jack in an i pod you put it in a walkman or something else that can register, obwiously you put the jack in the hole to register!
