- 2 feet of 3 inch vent pipe
- 2 end caps
- about 1 foot of wire (ideally same material as pipe, or covered)
- rivets (sheet metal screws would do)
- 2 about 1 foot pieces of cable (or a dowel)
- 4 zip-ties
Tools:
- A drill (you might be able to punch through the metal with a nail instead...)

I am not sure what you thought was involved in the process of galvanization to provoke such an outburst! There is no need for profanity, even if you do mask it with '*'s.
In a nutshell, galvanization is the process of coating steel or iron with a thin layer of zinc to prevent corrosion. You can read more about it here,Galvanized steel but I can assure the galvanized metal will withstand the elements for many years to come.
