Introduction: Stacker Separator, a Knex Ball Machine Path Separator

Picture of Stacker Separator, a Knex Ball Machine Path Separator
Hello knexers!

Here are the instructions for the first new path separator in my knex ball machine Paradox.
The stacker separator stacks 2 balls, then a third one enters and all balls exit the separator at once.
You can also give this separator 2 entrances if you want (intro picture 10)
As you can see, the mech is 1 blue rod by 2 white rods and a blue rod: not perfect to implement in a standard red rod ball machine. So I also made a frame, that way it's easier for you to attach it in your own ball machine.

If you build the separator, read every image note, they're very useful!

Thanks for watching / building!

Step 1: Piece Count

Picture of Piece Count

If you want you can count the pieces before you start building.
Here is a list with all pieces included in this separator, named by their original color:

Green: 32
White: 34
Blue: 39
Yellow: 2
Red: 16
Grey: 2

Total rods: 125

Dark-grey: 15
Light-grey: 8
Orange: 5
Red: 10
Green: 10
Yellow: 15
White: 4
Purple: 44
Blue: 8

Total connectors: 119

Blue spacer: 16
Silver spacer: 10
Y-clip: 14
Blue clip: 1

Total other: 41

Grand Total: 285

Step 2: Mechanism (part 1)

Picture of Mechanism (part 1)

We're going to start with the first part of the mechanism. This is the biggest step in this instructable.

Step 3: Mechanism (part 2)

Picture of Mechanism (part 2)

The second part of the mechanism.

Step 4: Frame

Picture of Frame

This is the red rod frame, it allowes you to easily implement the seperator in your ball machine. It's not necessary, but I'd recommend to make it.

Step 5: Entrance

Picture of Entrance

This is the entrance. Like I said in the intro, you can give this separator 2 entrance tracks.

Step 6: Finished!

Your separator is finished!

Like always, you can send me a picture of yours if you built it.

Thanks for watching / building!

That is a VERY nice machine considering that it doesn't have a motor

Thank you!

I know what I'm using on my next ball machine! Very genuine mechanism!

Thanks a lot!

¿Tú hablas español, verdad? Yo sé es correcto. :P

No I don't O,O

:P Yo se tener uno a tu. Hahaha.

(I have one on you then)!

Ah mais est-ce que tu peux aussi parler du français? ;)

No hablo frances, perdon senor. (I can't figure out how to add accents on ibles).

Maybe with your keyboard?

Oh, I-Had-Not-Thought-of-that. <Says mechanically> :P

No, everything I've ever done on Instructables is from my phone. Therefore, I use the app, and for me, at least, the accents don't exist.

hunter999 (author)nerfrocketeer2014-03-18

What about replying to PMs. The phone app doesn't have that feature. :-)

nerfrocketeer (author)hunter9992014-03-18

Yeah, only for that and adding image notes and word effects. Also I get on to check out forums every once and a while. But I get on on my phone every day, and sometimes I see comments but can't reply to them 'till I can get to a desktop/my laptop. :/

Yeah I also have that problem sometimes...

Wow have you never logged in with a computer!? I mean, the app is good, but I think it's easier to make ibles with a computer. :)

Rarely I do, to respond to PM's and add image notes, but that's all. iOS 7 doesn't support ibles.

Nice, Maybe I will build it! :)

Thanks! And let me know when you build it :D

Sorry, I'm won't build it becouse I've got not enough pieces for two paths more. I'm sorry. :)

No problem at all ;D

¡Es formidable! ¡Me gustan tus haceres, amigo! Y no, uso a la translatadora de Google para escribir. Hay errores, (probably). :P

My pitiful attempt to use my knowledge from Spanish class and some of my Spanish speaking friends and relatives. ;)

Nice try, but I don't see why you would speak Spanish to someone who doesn't understand it ;) I'm not Spanish at all :D

But I understood "Es formidable", thanks for that :)

Yep! It's great! ;)

Shadowman39 (author)2014-03-09

Nice! I like that it's both a separator and a ball collector. :-)

And thanks for 2100th comment :)

Wow! 2100th comment. I haven't even got to 1000 yet. Btw, cool separator!

Haha just comment on every new knex-related instructable, and your number of comments will increase very fast ;)

And thanks! :D

Or you can try exploring out of the K'nex world ;-)

Indeed :D
