The finished product looks too pretty for its purpose. I made one a while back using the same plans but with more industrial looking pipe and unions (no gold endcaps and non-taped pipes). I just painted mine black and it works perfectly. This is really a question of form over form, in other words, this is going to be under the camera, not in front of it.
