Step 4: Make Milk Jello

In a separate bowl (larger than the first one I have pictured) measure 1/2 cup cold water.  Sprinkle 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin on top.  Let the gelatin "bloom" or thicken for a few minutes, and add 1 1/2  (one and a half) cups boiling water and dissolve.

Add the can of condensed milk. Stir and allow to cool to room temperature.

I never tried to use a milk product as a jello base. I will make sure to stir the mix with the gelatin and 1 and 1/2 cups hot water very well. Then stir in the milk..I keep stirring till the milk and gelatin get a chance to become one. Oh this is fun! as well as adds nutrition to the mixture. Great to have in the fridge for summer.
Making milk jello is sometimes called panna cotta. Makes a great and easy alternative for ice cream.

Your instructions say ". . . add 1 1/2 cup boiling water and dissolve." Does that mean 1 1/2 cups boiling water or just one 1/2 cup? My kids can't wait to try this!
