This is a great Instructable, but you need to add a main image of the final project to the intro step. Please do that and leave me a message when you have so that we can publish your work. Thanks!
You can also type "telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl". This will also work in other OS's. In Mac, or other *nix environments, you just need to open a terminal and enter the same command.
In windows, under Vista and newer, you need to allow "telnet client" under the Programs and Features menu.
Click the Start button , click Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Turn Windows features on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. In the Windows Features dialog box, select the Telnet Client check box. Click OK. The installation might take several minutes.
for a thousand time THIS IS NOT A HACK you are just connecting to a website using telnet!! If anyone wants to see this WITHOUT using telnet click here btw its on a site which isn't on google and took me awhile to find, the "movie" is super big like widescreen too
if you don't have internet it doesn't work. it is on a telnet protocol, which connects to the server at towel.blinkenlights.nl so no internet = no connect
This only works in XP if you have vista: Go to Start -> Control Panel - Programs and Features->"Turn Windows Features On or Off". Wait for it to load. Takes a while. Scroll down to the bottom and put a check "Telnet Client". Hit OK. Then wait for it to configure again takes a while. Then follow above instructions
cool, but this has been around for over 10 years now, thanks for informing everyone about it,but you should at least give credit to those who made this film and to those who maintain the site.
