LEDs would help a lot with the heat issue I bet.

Just wondering if when you punched the holes it was in a pattern to imitate real constellations? I have lots of nice coffee cans and I could got to say, the Hubble site, print out some constellations and make nice cheap night lights for my grand kids.

I would like to make something like this but I am just wondering if it is safe... I am a freak when it comes to safety and I don't want any accidents to happen if I have the chance to make this. But it is a wonderful project and the fact that it is so easy to do... I love it!

I've done it many times. I am always looking for a box to make it. The effect that you have when making circle moviment's makes you think your in the sky. I used to make with LED's but I'll try doing with the light. It is secure only with LED's anf Flourescent Lights... Hope you enjoy!

This is a great Instructable. I especially like the use of different needles to make stars of different brightnesses.

You could put real constellations into the design by sticking a star chart to the box. You could then use different size needles to poke through each of the stars according to their brightnesses.

A search for "star maps" on Google should bring up lots of sites where you can generate a star map for your location. This is a good one. Otherwise, search for your favourite constellation on Wikipedia.

Very nice, I'd suggest a fluorescent light myself.
