Introduction: Start a YCI Club - 5 Easy Steps!

Youth Commission International is a ministry that helps middle and high school students start and maintain Christian clubs on their school campuses.  Starting a YCI club is easier than you think.  There are only 5 steps to complete!

The YCI team is here to help you every step of the way.  Give us a call: 704-364-2122

Step 1: Step 1: Student Leaders

Find students (at least 2) who will be the leaders of the club.  Once you find the leaders, contact the YCI office (704-364-2122) to schedule a training.  We'll give you some tools and ideas on how to make your club AWESOME!

Step 2: Step 2: Find a Faculty Sponsor

Find a teacher at your school who would be willing to allow the club to meet in his/her classroom.  The YCI clubs usually meet before or after school.

*Remember, if you can't find a teacher, that's OK!  Some clubs have asked the Media Specialist to be the sponsor, others have asked the Guidance Counselor, even the school nurse!

Step 3: Step 3: Find a Campus Mentor

A Campus Mentor is usually a Youth Pastor from a local church, but it can also be someone who is mature in the faith and has great mentoring skills.  This person will be there to help the student leadership team plan the club meetings.

If you can't find someone to fill this role, contact the YCI office (704-364-2122) and we'll assist you.

Step 4: Step 4: Club Constitution & School Registration Forms

Now that you've got student leaders and a faculty sponsor, you've got to let the school administration know that you're going to form a YCI club.  The Club Constitution and School Registration Form must be turned in to the school office. Check out the YCI Student Resources page to download the forms.

Step 5: Step 5: Advertise!

Now, you have to get the word out about your club!  The student leadership team can make posters to advertise the first meeting.  You can also let everyone know through the school announcements.  But, one of the best ways to get the word out is to personally invite people!
