Introduction: Steampunk Outdoor Lamp Special Edition

About: I love to invent and create new things in a "steampunk styled way" working with brass, copper, vulcanized-fibre, brass gears and (ply)- wood. On one side I am fascinated in neon lights and small ele…

Hello
This is a special edition of an steampunk outdoor lamp.
It is made of mahaghoni wood copper and a tricky electronic-cfl light. With one pair of batteries you can use the lamp for about 20 hours.
Look to the following contruction steps and have fun outside using it ;-)))

Step 1: Basic Parts: the Cfl Light

Take an old CFL-bulb as you see in the picture. Cut the electronic part away and take only the glass tube and the plastic bulb.

Step 2: Basic Parts: the Copper Ring

With a drilling machine you can cut such small pieces from a woodden plate. Drill another hole in the disk an cut a small stripe from this hole to the outer side of the disk. Put a small stripe of a copper ribbon around the wodden disk and put t both ends inside the second hole. You can fix them with another piece of wood. At least you solder them together.  Next sign the holes you want to drill for the brass srews and for cutting the inner circle to put the plastic bulb later in.

Step 3: The Electronical Equipment

Inside the box there ist the well known electronic from a disposable Camera modified in that way as you can see it in my first project: "High-voltage-ignited-plasma-bulb". You just have to fix the ring from the step before at the top of the box and connect the electronic to the glass tube contacts.
