Step 1: What's needed:
1 1/2 cup flour ( i used 1/2 cup of the total flour as while wheat flour)
1 cup water
2 extra teaspoons water
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 pinch salt
1 handful or so of raisins
1 - 2 tsp cooking oil or lard.
Tools:
Stove or camp fire. (a gas stove may work better than an electric stove)
Sturdy large pan with lid. (i just used a Dutch oven)
Mixing bowl
Spoon
Measuring cup
Note: you could substitute buttermilk or (milk and a tablespoon of juice for the water). You could add a little sugar or a bit of reduced juice to make it sweeter. You could also make it savory by not adding raisins but adding herbs and vegetables of your choosing.
Step 2: Get the pan going.
Give the pan time to heat up.
Step 3: Make the batter:
The add the one cup of water, but not the two extra teaspoons.
Stir into a goopy mess. Does not have to be perfect.
Step 4: Get it in the pan.
Let the dough cook for a couple of minutes.
Add the two teaspoons of water around the edge of the dough.
Cover and let cook for about 6-7 minutes till the dough has firmed up and the bottom of the dough is brown.
Step 5: Flip it.
Recover the pan and let sit for about six more minutes till the other side is brown.
Note: Using wheat flour will make it look darker.
Step 6: Bread!!
Let cool for a bit.
Slice and eat up!!!
