Thanks to Instructables and Strawbees, Maui Makers received a package of Strawbees to learn how to use them, and share with our Makerspace. We were delighted! Our first Build Night was hosted by the Kihei, Maui Outback Steakhouse Restaurant. Our thanks to the manager, Morgan, and special thanks to our server, Kelsey. We had a great time!

Step 1: Gather Your Friends

So, first step for a Strawbees Build Night, gather your friends.

Tools we needed were

Strawbees
Straws (we had about 500)
Scissors
Other craft supplies to spark the imagination

Step 2: Let Everyone Play!

The next step was to give everyone a generous assortment of Strawbees, straws and supplies. Then we let everyone experiment. There was a lot of silliness and laughter - Strawbees are a lot of fun to play with, even for us grownups.

Step 3: Share the Fun!

Our final step was to share the fun. Of course, gathering at a restaurant was a great time for us, but it was also great exposure for Maui Makers! Several local teachers came over to see what we were playing with, and lots of kids came to see what we were making. The picture here is one of those kids - hopefully his family will become Maui Makers too.
