Introduction: Strawberry Filled Homemade Cream Puffs
Cream puffs filled with fresh strawberries and a strawberry flavored whipped cream. They are so simple to make and delicious! Light and refreshing for the hot summer. Video above
Step 1: Cream Puff Ingredients
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup water
Step 2: Make the Dough
In a sauce pan combine the water and butter. Bring to a boil. Add the flour and salt. Stir until the mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan and forms a smooth ball.
Remove from heat and vigorously stir in the 2 eggs one at a time until the dough is smooth and glossy.
Step 3: Bake the Cream Puffs
Drop the dough by tablespoons into 6 equal portions. Bake on a parchment lined baking tray at 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes until nicely golden brown.
Make a small slit in each cream puffs after removing from the oven to allow steam to escape. Let cool.
Cut in half and remove any soft dough remaining inside.
Step 4: Make Strawberry Whipped Cream
Add 1 cup whipping cream, 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons strawberry Jell-O to a mixing bowl. Whip until soft peaks form.
Step 5: Fill the Cream Puffs
Spread a thin layer of the strawberry whipped cream. Add fresh sliced strawberries. Then top with more of the whipped cream. Put on the top and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
