Step 1: Materials

Picture of Materials

The things you need can be made with the instructables on the site or found around the home. For one strike-anywhere firecracker-

-Black powder or flash powder

-Strip of paper 11in. by 1in.

-Inner ink holder of a pen

-Hot glue gun

-1in. of visco fuse with a diameter of 1mm-3mm

-Small funnel rolled from paper

-Spoon

-Masking tape

-Strike anwhere match

Step 2: Construction

Picture of Construction
Roll the paper around the pencil as straight and tight as you can get it, then wrap masking tape around the whole length of it, but leave the ends open. Plug one of the ends with hot glue. Using your funnel, pour in you black powder or flash powder until it's almost full.  Insert the fuse into the unplugged end of the firecracker until it goes slightly under the level of the powder. Use as little glue as you can to plug the air holes around the fuse, so you don't smother it. Finally, tape the strike-anywhere match so it touches the fuse and the white tip protrudes slightly higher then it. Your done! Now to light it :)

Step 3: Ignition

Picture of Ignition
Strike against any rough surface and throw. These should be waterproof but I haven't tried it yet. Oh, and try not set anything on fire. These firecrackers make a bang when they ignite so dont light them in your ear please. Experiment with different sizes of paper and compacted powder to get louder reports. Have fun!
majorbromley you can get gun powder from caps any type just remove the with thing that covers the powder I do it with scissors but be care because u can accendly burn your self I done it dosen times
*Facepalm* You obviously dont know what you're saying

first of all the stuff in caps ISN'T gunpowder/blackpowder its actually armstrong mix which is a highly sensitive compound of potassium chlorate and phosphorus that's strictly used in very small amounts to prevent injury, while blackpowder is potassium nitrate, charcoal, and sulphur and is only sensitive to heat and sparks, also BP looks like a black (duh) powder while armstrong mix is reddish in color and burns ridiculously faster compared to BP.

You sir could of killed someone with that error.
where u get gun powder
You make
how
Follow the instructions in the link.
kk is it legal
Depends on where you live. As far as I know, in the US it is legal. Good luck getting more than a few ounces of KN03 at once w/out a license.
kno3???
If you don't know what KN03 is, don't even think about making gunpowder. It will only end badly.
jest tell me what that is theres a wasp nest at my scools playground
Malathion is a much more effective way to deal with a wasp nest.
It is potassium nitrate, a common oxidizer. And if your gonna b low up a wasp nest, don't use tiny firecrackers. Use something bigger. Trust me.
what sould i use thasts cheap and legal in md
I thought you were going to make it.
i am but what sould i use
place some thermite above it in a terracotta pot, that should deal with it. Then again, it might deal with whatever the nest's attached to as well
We wouldn't want to over-solve the problem now would we?

potassium nitrate isn't that hard to get a hold of. You can buy 5lbs on ebay for around $20. Its used commonly in sugar fueled rockets (the reason i bought it). Taking care of a wasps nest with gunpowder? Nice!

I wonder if you could help me. I'm looking for information on how to make solid rockett propellent similar to what you would find in an estees rockett.-THX

Diaper crystals.
These remind me of the firecrackers we had when my family visited russia. Forgot their name, but it looks like a regular firecracker, but no fuse, just a match head that you strike on a matchbox. Strike it, it smokes for 4-5 seconds, and BOOM (alot bigger than US crackers).

very ingenious! awesome!
I've seen an improvement on this-
Last year on Halloween a family friend of mine came over a brought with him a dozen impact sensitive firecrackers. He would tape two large fire crackers together, and tie together the fuses. Then he took two strike anywhere matches and taped them on so that the heads were as close to the base of the fuses as possible. Then he added on some pennies (for weight) and put the whole thing on the end of a drinking straw. When thrown, the things would fly, with the match heads on the nose of the "aircraft", and upon striking the road the additional weight would ignite the matches and boom! One of the most genius firework ideas I've seen.

Another option would be to slice the tip of the match off, cut the fuse so that it barely protrudes from the firecracker, and affix the match head to the fuse; so that if you throw it and hit match-head first, it will self ignite and quickly (almost immediately) explode.

Cool idea. I'm gonna try it.

put some fins on the back to make sure it lands fuse first

Sweet, I'd add a very small piece of thread to make sure the fuse stays in contact with the match-head.
Ahh you beat me to uploading mine you boner, Haha, good job, great minds think alike I guess =D
For its simplicity this is absolutley ausome, Nice instructable

I love it!

Thats a good idea!!! I just coated my firecrackers in wax even though they probably already are.

Ha! Awesome Idea!!! I'm assuming your visco is waterproof. You should waterproof your matches too! you can dip them in nail polish, let them dry for a few hours, and then tape them to your firecrackers!
