Striped Spring Vases

Introduction: Striped Spring Vases

About: Hi everyone! I'm a hardcore DIY'er, I've published 11 DIY books, just produced my own TV show called Make Your Mark for PBS/APT, I make YouTube videos every week and I'm buried under a mountain of craft sup...

Grab an old record player and some thrift store vases and make some beautiful striped vases for spring!

Step 1: Watch the Short Video Tutorial Here!

Step 2: You'll Need

An old record player

Americana Gloss Enamels

Glass vases

Rubbing alcohol

Step 3: Prep the Record Player

Make a stack of cardboard disks the size of a vinyl record

Cut a hole in the center of one side to fit over the spindle

Clean your vases with rubbing alcohol

Tape a vase to the center of the cardboard

Pick your favorite colors of Americana Gloss Enamels

Turn on the record player and start painting stripes

Step 4:

For an opaque look, wait about 30 minutes and give it a second coat of paint

Step 5: Paint and Bake

For a translucent look, only use one coat of paint

Bake twice for 30 minutes at 325˚ letting the oven cool in between

I LOVE this project!!! Im an activity director at an assisted living home, i'm always looking for fresh ideas that are easy enough for the residents with limited hand mobility to enjoy as well. This is perfect!

That's what my mother used to do for a living. I think it's a terrific idea.

This is really nice! I see a lot of opportunities for customization for a table ensemble, with matching cloths. Thanks so much for the cool idea!

Very relaxing! Nice job on the strawberry Santa Clause project, BTW!

These are beautiful! They look so great that one would most likely find them on a store shelf! Great job=)
