Stylish Ways to cut your T-shirt (T-shirt hacks contest)

Contest Winner
In this short but sweet instructable, I'll show you how you can cut up the sides of your t-shirts to make them stylish and cool. Alot of people at my school do this to their t-shirts that they buy for fund raisers or events that the school is holding, and I thought it'd be cool as a short instructable.

This is a no sew project, So all you need is a desired T-shirt, and a pair of scissors.

There are two different ways in which I have seen these cuts executed at my school. From what I can tell, there is a way for guys, and a way for the girls. Each will be described here.

Don't forget to VOTE if you enjoyed this instructable, or just found it useful.

Step 2: Making the cuts: Male Version

Take your T-shirt and lay it so that one of the side seams is on top, with the sleeve right above it.

Male Version: Starting at the bottom of the shirt, make cuts going horizontally about 6 inches long, maybe half way or more up the shirt. I made my cuts about 1 1/2 inches away from each other. After this you may want to cut off the sleeves, but I left mine on. Do this for both sides and the male version is complete and you now have your new shirt!

Are you talking like that on purpose.
Constructive criticism would have been much more conducive than what you have posted, as would proper English.

this is pretty cool but i have seen it all before on the back of a shirt, the front and of course the side and i thought maybe next time (if there is a next time) you could do something different, ,aybe something not many people know of. By the way another website to look at for these kind of things is: just so you know.
AHH!!! I saw my friend wearing a t-shirt just like this and so I've been googling for a tutorial on how to do this ever since! Thank you! This project is super cute(:
Any chance you could find a way to hack these rave shirts?

The electronics are cool, put I'm sure you could do a lot more with them.
ohmygooddd, this is amazing! makes huge shirts fit perfecttt :))

I must say, a black shirt makes this step (and others) hard to see

I know, But it's the only shirt I had to work with, and I tried to fix the problem by taking the pictures with paper behind what I was working with. As always, Thanks for feedback!
The contrast is sweet. I reckon I'll use your female design to make a male skinny-fit for myself, with a white panel sewn in to keep the contrast strong. :-) Thanks
awesome, im glad i stumbled on this

I love doing this to old tshirts that are uh, huge, ugly and free. Sometimes I'll cut the collar and/or sleeves off to make different looks. Awesome tutorial!

I used to like making custom tops and outfits (even a couple leather bikinis) for my friend Jocelyn, she makes me (among other things) feel creative. Anyway, I don't think I have ever seen a t-shirt that had seams on the sides. Seams would definitely make the job of customizing a t-shirt much much easier.
Nice! My friend does that tying method (yes, she's a girl). That looks pretty hard and annoying to tie it so small like that. +1 rating and vote.

It actually looks smaller in the picture than it really is. Thanks for the vote!
