Here's a simple way to spice up your Superbowl party - with Super Bowls!  Just cut open some footballs, and serve up your chips in style.  Lining your new footbowls with foil or cling wrap means super easy clean up and not having to worry about a weird rubber taste to your chips and guac.  So grab your ball, a knife, and some Sugru, hot glue, or whatever else you can find to help balance the bottoms, and you're ready to go.

Step 1: Materials

For this project, I used:
  • Plastic footballs
  • Matte knife
  • Sugru (hot glue would work just as well)
  • Plastic wrap (foil would work as well)

Step 2: Cut and Wash

I cut one ball directly in half, and another I just cut the top off of so it would be deeper.

You can cut the footballs I had with a sharp knife or even scissors.

Once you've cut open your balls, it's a good idea to give them a thorough wash.

Step 3: Feets

Your bowl is ready to use, but it's going to be super tippy if you don't stabilize it somehow.

I used four dots of Sugru to make little feet on the bottom of the bowl.  Then I gently pressed it into the table to make them even.

You could also do this with hot glue, making feet or even just a circle around where the ball comes into contact with the table.

Now you have a stable footbowl!

Step 4: Line and Fill

I lined the footbowls with plastic wrap, but aluminum foil would be even better!

Once they're lined, you can fill them with snacks of your choice, and just trim off any overhanging wrap.

Enjoy!
