Step 5Layers Are Key
- Place the backing fabric on a large flat surface
- Top with the batting material so that it is centered on the backing fabric
- Top with the quilted image fabric so that is centered on the batting material
- Cut off a portion of the each corner of the backing fabric at about a 45 degree angle - this is done to reduce bulk
- Fold the remaining bit of the corners up to the image fabric and pin in place
- Fold over the sides of the backing fabric just to the edge of the batting and then over again so that the rolled edge is covering about .25" of the image fabric and pin. Pinning in this fashion should create nice mitered corners.
- Sew around the edge making sure that the image fabric is secured by the stiches
- Using a large-eyed needle threaded with yarn, sew through all layers of the quilt at each intersection of the squares on the image fabric
- Wrap up a super cute baby to keep it nice and warm!
