Background Information
This costume was made for a school project. The project was to make a marine themed costume out of cardboard and the costume must be in a flat pack design. The costume also had an age limit, with age limit it would have a size limit too. The age limit was for middle school aged students. Having known that it must fit a middle school student it had to have the average sizes and heights of a middle school student, from the smallest, to the average, and to the largest.

Design Brief
In a group the task was to create marine themed costmes out of carboard that must be in a flat pack design.

Specifications
The costume must:
-must be made out of cardboard
-must be in a flat pack design/ slotted contruction
-must fit target audience (12-14 years of age)
- must fit size range (4'11'' - 5'4'')

Limitations
The costume follow the following:
- Made out of cardboard
- No tools such as staples may be used to hold carboard together
- Cardboard easy to use
- In slotted contruction format only
- In flat pack design

Material List
- (S1) Cardboard Size 4' by 4' QTY: 2
- (S2) Carboard Size 6'' by 4'' QTY: 3

Tools and Equipment List
- (T1) Cutting Mat, under carboard for protection while cutting.
- (T2) Utility Knife, to cut the carboard
- (T3) Ruler, measuring size of pieces
- (T4) Pencil, sketching the costume pieces

Parts List
-(P1) front of starfish, QTY 1.
- (P2) back of starfish, QTY 1.
- (P3) connectors, QTY 3.

Step 1: Front of Starfish

Steps for producing Front of Starfish
1. Put cutting mat (T1) down under the cardboard piece.
2. Draw, using a pencil (T4), a 3' by 4' starfish.
3.Cut ,using utility knife (T2), the first cardboard piece (S1) into a 3' by 4'  starfish.
4. Cut , using utility knife (T2), three 6'' slots along the top left of the star fish and the upper parts of the left and right arm, see along picture.

Step 2: Connectors

Steps for Producing Connectors
1. Draw, with a pencil (T4), a 6'' by 4'' rectangle.
1.Cut, with utility knife (T2), cardboard (S2) into a 6'' by 4'' rectangle
2. Do step two more times

Step 3: Back of Starfish

Steps for producing back of starfish
1. Put cutting mat (T1) down under the cardboard piece.
2. Draw, using a pencil (T4), a 3' by 4' starfish.
3.Cut ,using utility knife (T2), the first cardboard piece (S1) into a 3' by 4' starfish.
4. Cut , using utility knife (T2), three 6'' slots along the top left of the star fish and the upper parts of the left and right arm, see along picture.

Step 4: Assembly

Parts List
-(P1) front of starfish, QTY 1.
- (P2) back of starfish, QTY 1.
- (P3) connectors, QTY 3.

Steps to Assemble
1. Take front piece of starfish (P1) and the three connectors (P3).
2. Slot the three connectors (P3) into the 6'' marks on the front of the starfish (P1) piece.
3. Take the back of the starfish (P2) and slot the ends of the connectors (P3) ,that are already connected to the front of the starfish, into the 6'' slots on the back of the starfish piece.

You now have your starfish costume!
