Are you a fan of superheroes? Do you enjoy playing card games? Yes? Then let's put your superhero knowledge to the test with this extraordinary game! The rules are the similar as those in the game Anomia. Provided are files to create one superhero themed card deck consisting of 52 cards and directions to the game. The goal of the game is to win the most cards by testing you superhero knowledge to that of your opponents' in face-offs. So what are you waiting for? Let's get started!

Step 1: Creating the Cards

To make the cards, you will need:


  • 7 Sheets of white card-stock
  • An X-ACTO Knife (or if you have a Silhouette Machine you can use that, but it is not required)
  • A printer

Start by printing the first page of the provided PDF 7 times on all 7 sheets of card-stock. Then, re-print on the opposite side of each sheet pages 2-8. Make sure that when you print the second side of each sheet of paper you insert it into your printer correctly. You don't want the second side to be upside-down. To be sure you get it right, you may want to practice with some scrap paper.

Then once you have all sheets printed correctly on both sides, you will need to cut the cards out along the dotted line with an X-ACTO knife. Or, if you have a Silhouette Machine, you can place each sheet on the Silhouette cutting mat so that the words are facing up. Then simply send the cut file provided in this step straight to your machine. Do this until you all of the cards are cut out.

Step 2: Creating the Box (Optional)

This step can unfortunately only be completed with the aid of a Silhouette machine. So if you have one, thats great! Otherwise, you will have to skip this step and proceed to the next one.

Alright, if you're still on this step you must have a Silhouette machine, so lets begin! To make the box you will need a Silhouette machine and some glue. Once you have those items, complete the following steps:

  • Download the ".studio3" file from this step.
  • Print the file out on an 8 1/2" by 11" sheet of cardstock
  • Place the cardstock on your Silhouette's cutting mat
  • Load the mat into your machine
  • Send the cut file to your machine
  • Wait for the cut job to complete
  • Remove the cardstock from the matt and any excess paper
  • Fold, glue, and assemble the box

Step 3: How to Play

Gameplay:

The person who shuffles the cards should go first. When it's your turn, draw a card from one of the draw piles, then quickly flip it face-up so that everyone sees it at the same time. Put the card face-up in front of you -- this is the beginning of your play pile.Take turns in clockwise-order, drawing cards one-at-a-time and adding them to your play pile. Each card has one of 6 symbols. Continue drawing cards until the symbols match.

Face offs (aka what to do when the symbols match).

  • If the symbol on your card matches that of another player, you have entered what's known as a "face-off round" -- this is the core of the game.
  • In order to win the face-off round, provide a correct example of the person, place or thing on your opponent's card.
  • If you finish blurting out a correct answer first, you win the card.
  • If you win, you take the other player's card and put it face-down into your winning pile (not to be confused with your play pile of face-up cards). Do not move or block the view of your top card

Cascades (what to do if the loser's pile reveals a new top card).

  • Once a new top card is revealed, check to see if the loser's card matches that of another player. If so, immediately enter into face-off mode.
  • Do not draw cards until all possible face-offs have been played.
  • After all the face-offs and cascades are over, resume normal game play.

Wild cards.

  • A card with two symbols is a wild card and should be placed face-up between the two draw piles.
  • If the two wild card symbols appear on cards topping any two player's play piles, then it's time to go into another face-off round.
  • Once a wild card is in play, you must look for both cards matching you own card or matches that match the wild card.

Ending the game.

The game is over when all the draw piles are empty.

  • All players count the cards in their winning piles.
  • Whoever has the most cards wins!
