Introduction: Sweet Teddy Bear Tee to Crochet for Valentine's Day

Surprise your child this Valentine's Day with this sweet little crocheted bear tee. The tee is simple to crochet and easily slips over bear's head-no buttons or fasteners to fool with.

Step 1: Step 1: Gather Your Materials

For this project you will need the following supplies:
1/2 oz. Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn in red
Size H crochet hook
Scrap of white felt
Tacky glue
Scissors
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge: 2 rnds dc=1"

Size: Fits 8" bear or doll such as the Webkinz Lil' Kinz Panda shown

Step 2: Step 2: Begin Making Tee at Neckline

Rnd 1: Ch 30, join w sl st in beg ch to form ring, ch 3, dc in next ch and in each rem ch around, join w sl st in top of beg ch 3 (30 dc).

Step 3: Step 3: Round One Complete

You now have a ring of 30 dc.

Step 4: Step 4: Armhole Round

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, ch 6, sk next 6 dc, dc in next 9 dc, ch 6, sk next 6 dc, dc in last 5 dc, join as before (18 dc plus 2 ch 6 sp).

Step 5: Step 5: Lower Part of Shirt

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in next dc and in each rem dc and in each ch around, join as before (30 dc).

Step 6: Step 6: Last Round of Lower Part of Tee

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next dc and in each rem dc around, join as before, fo (30 dc).

Step 7: Step 7: Begin Working Arms

Rnd 1: With bottom (Rnd 4) of tee facing you, join yarn w sl st in 4th sk dc of Rnd 3 on either armhole, ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc around post of dc closest to work on Rnd 2, dc in next 6 dc of Rnd 1 (you're just working dcs in a big circle around the armhole here), 2 dc around post of next dc closest to work on Rnd 2, dc in last 3 dc along Rnd 3, join as before (16 dc). Note: If you get confused on this step just work 16 dc evenly around the entire armhole.

Step 8: Step 8: Finish Arm

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in next dc and in each dc around, join as before, fo (16 dc).

Step 9: Step 9: Work Opposite Arm

Work opposite arm same as first.

Step 10: Step 10: Weave in Ends

Weave in loose ends with tapestry needle.

Step 11: Step 11: Cut Out Heart

Cut out a heart shape about 1 1/4" tall from felt. Make a paper pattern first if you need to and place on shirt to gauge desired size. Then pin paper to felt and cut around pattern.

Step 12: Step 12: Finish Tee

Glue felt heart to front center of tee and let dry overnight.
