When you see this long post title, it sounds like I'm trying to explain a E=mc2 formula or something. Just continue and I'll explain.

Note, for beginners: an e-mail client is a computer program used to manage a user's email.
Note, there are so many phone models, and e-mail clients, etc. so this tutorial can't cover everything. And I might have made some mistakes.

Brief description of this tutorial

       - on Linux and/or Windows.
Note, supporting Linux or Windows, doesn't mean it supports all versions or distributions: I can't guarantee that.
Note, I'm planning to review this tutorial to make it work on Mac too. I don't own a Mac myself, so it's difficult. I don't exclude the possibility to make it run on your Mac, but nothing is tested.
       -  sync your mobile contacts with your e-mail client (some tips included, but untested on Windows) and/or
       -  sync your mobile calendar on Linux and/or Windows

and preferably don't buy a software like Outlook, or other software
and preferably don't want to switch e-mail clients

       - over Bluetooth: only Bluetooth!
       - this help is targeted towards Nokia phones, but it might be still worth a try to test it on other phone models too. Most things could still work with other phone models. This tutorial contains a short analysation, so you will find out what's worth a try and what isn't.
       - this help is targeted towards Thunderbird and Evolution. However, you might get the calendar sync on Windows working with another e-mail client though. It's not probable however, following this tutorial, that you will get contact sync on Windows working or contacts and calender sync on Linux.
This tutorial contains a short analysation, so you will find out what's worth a try and what isn't.

-----------------
Introduction:
----------------
As you can see in the brief description, this tutorial is made for different situations.

Anyway, to make things more obvious, I'm first gonna tell what I was trying to do
I was trying to sync my Nokia mobile calender with Thunderbird Lightning addon on Windows  (the Lightning addon brings the Sunbird calendar to the popular email client, Mozilla Thunderbird), and I noticed Nokia PC suite doesn't offer that functionality.
And my PC is multibooted, so I also wanted to find a solution to sync my calendar with Evolution on Linux as well.

And now it works, flawlessly.
--------------------------------------------------------

I have investigated - googled and tested - and have come up with different solutions and in the first step, we're gonna analyze what YOU need to get your contacts and/or calendar in one of these products. What's possible and what isn't.
Paid solutions are not listed if there's a reliable free alternative.
It was quite much work to compose this instructable, so please don't be angry about sloppy writing and mistakes please.

If you are already standing up and screaming, "CONTACTS", please calm down: I've included some methods to sync your contacts too.
