Introduction: T-Sctructables: PC Keyboard to Musical Keyboard

How many of you play the piano/keyboard? How many of you wish you record your music onto the computer, but don't have the right tools? This is the same situation i have fallen into. Until now.

I made this intructable for those who have encountered the same situation. Today, I will teach how to play your PC keyboard like a piano, using a program called MadTracker.

The finished keyboard will look like this:

Step 1: Get Your Tools

Before we begin, we need to get a few things together:

@A spare PC keyboard
@A black Sharpie marker
@Clear Scotch tape
@Scissors

Step 2: Coloring Time

The first thing we need to do, is color certain keys black, as to resemble piano keys. Make sure when you're coloring, you don't color over the Letter/number/symbol so that you can still use the keyboard properly.

Step 3: Apply the Sticky Tape!

Break off a piece of scotch tape about keyboard key size, and apply it to a colored key. Repeat for all of the colored keys. This step is so that the ink doesn't wipe on your fingers over time.

Step 4: Two More Keys!!

Your almost done with your keyboard. We have to more keys to color and tape. The play and pause keys (right-ctrl,numpad0) This step is optional, but may come in handy later.

Step 5: Get the Program

Ok, now that we're finished with our keyboard, we can go get the computer program. The name of the program is called MadTracker. It's a free to download from www.madtracker.org. Download and install the program. Learn on how to use the program.

Step 6: Finished!

Hook up your keyboard and run MadTracker. The colored keys on your keyboard are the black keys of the keyboard (obviously). It should be obvious where the white keys of the keyboard are located. Now all you have to do is write a song, and play it!

Enjoy!
