TV Remote Jammer!

Step 1What you need...

What you need...
I chose to use a Sony remote control (SR-P30) because it has plenty of room inside to add my circuit and a 9 volt battery while keeping the remote fully functional.

The circuit parts:

1. Small circuit board
2. (1) 10k variable resistor
3. (1) 555 Timer
4. (4) resistors. 470ohm, 1k, 560ohm
5. (2) high speed switching diodes 1N4148
6. (1) transistor - BC557
7. (2) Infrared LED's
8. (2) 10nf capacitors
9. (1) 9 volt battery

Build the circuit based on the diagram below.

I go there physically. Its located near my house so i dont have to pay shipping

how could I get a longer range? the one I've built only works when I bring it close to the tv..

Apr 24, 2011. 10:27 PMtledgerwood says:
you can use tin foil to make a "reflector". Just place behind the LEDs in a three- wall configureation (or a U) and it should up the range if you point it at the set and remove any obstructing materials can't do too much harm. be careful not to short the LEDs out and g-luck!

The other remote controls IR leds make a stronger signal at that the ones on this circuit

Use HIGH powered IR leds or use IR leds and IR laser of low power

I dont know where to get these parts....I live on the east coast of the USA. And yes i have radioshacks, but none of them have circuit board parts

Google for electronic parts store, click around, who knows what you will find! :D

i live on the west coast and every on i have been to has had them. the have labeled compartment drawers they should have them. if not you can also look online radioshack.com

if you are OK with buying stuff online try this site: http://allelectronics.com/, ived used it with great results, but if you buy, buy stuff for multiple projects because shipping is a big $7:00

How much would afore mentioned shipping be to dublin (ireland)??

i have no idea.. sorry you could see if you can find out.

bought some stuff on thursday and it came saturday, but i live more in the west coast (Utah) , so idk how long it will be for you.

Where can you get the curcit boards? And, to those who need parts, try mouser<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.mouser.com">http://www.mouser.com</a>. It has over 1.6 million parts.<br/>

I think you accidentally forgot to list the 180 ohm resistor.

Also, could you upload a CLOSE UP picture of both the front and the back of the unit, so I can see it a little better, im a n00b. THANKS!!

very cool I built one like this but it only works occasionally I think I need to readjust the potentiometer (variable resistor) now I need to find the wave length of the wii IR tehehe
Aug 2, 2008. 7:19 AMalwinovich says:
the wii has a steady stream of ir, that's why you have to adjust sensitivity(if it had a wavelength the wiimote would only respond to he sensor bar)

Hey could you please show an up close picture of the top and bottom of your circuit. I also redid the schematic so that it could be wired without rearranging the pins on the 555 timer. Could someone verify that it will work the same way please?
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/5208/rfjammerschemtm1.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/><a href="http://g.imageshack.us/g.php?h=167&i=rfjammerschemtm1.jpg"><img src="http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/5208/rfjammerschemtm1.b078d6d846.jpg" border="0"></a>

If that didn't work, here is the link directly to the schematic:

I am a little confused about the battery situation. The schematics i am used to reading show batteries with both positive and negative leads coming out of the battery. Like this : -----[- +]-----. Your configuration showing one lead coming out of the 9V just confuses me. Also, I am assuming the symbol at the bottom of the schematic is the base. I was also wondering if you could possibly post a more close up picture of your circuit board and the back of your circuit board for those of us that are novices. I was also not planning to put my board in a remote, so could i just add a push button or a toggle switch between the battery and the circuit?
Jan 25, 2008. 7:45 PMtazman2087 says:
sorry my ascii illustration of the battery config got messed up. Here is what i was going for ------{- +}-------
Mar 4, 2008. 10:12 PMOrchestrapit says:
the reason for there only being one lead or the +9v is the symbol with the horizontal lines is connected to the negative terminal of the battery. p.s. this is how you will see this in almost all electrical schematics. I hope you decide to pursue electronics as i have!

well

I made my own research and found this
http://www.ladyada.net/make/tvbgone/download.html

They modulate at around 37Khz to change channels. I guest you send infrared at this speed and confuse any TV!
