Table Restoration

Introduction: Table Restoration

We have a coffee table in our living area that has seen some better days, so i decided to give it a little revamp. My mom had already sanded and stained the table once before and allowed me to have a crack at it. With a little time, effort, and patience with sanding that seems endless, we now have a pretty neat little table.

I sanded it down with 80 and 220 grit paper and used my dremel tool for the legs. I couldn't resist adding some sort of wood burn to make it truly unique. I settled on a Bible verse Joshua 24:15 "But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" and added a picture of a deer family. Each side has a picture of a star and leaf pattern.

Originally i was going to add a dark stain like it had before but felt that would have taken away from the burning. Afterwards I added around 3-4 coats of Minwax polyurethane clear gloss. Let it dry for awhile and voila!

And what really makes this table stand out is what's not shown. When my siblings and I were kids we would crawl under the table with crayons in hand and make our own little works of art. So there are scribbles everywhere and even our names. I left these there for memories and who knows maybe my kids will do the same one day. ^_^
