Now you can place a sheet of translucent white acrylic above the layer of circuits to diffuse the light from the LEDs.

I used small white vinyl bumpers for the acrylic to sits on top of.

To make the board more sensitive do you just make a larger coil of wire?

Can the LEDs be replaced with colour changing LEDs? I haven't studied electronics for a few years. The idea would be for the table to "shift" colour/s

you would need to buy RGB LEDs that change through their colours depending on the voltage/current that is applied to them. eg, low current = Red, mid current = Green, high current = blue, and every shade in-between and vice versa.

It would be easy! You would just replace the leds with the RBG ones. The table is meant to change in brightness when the circuits induct more or less. Instead of getting brighter and dimmer, it would get bluer and redder!

are you talking about the RGB LEDs that have two legs or four legs? if you are talking about RBG LEDs with two legs do you know where i can get some because i have a project in mind and i cant seem to find any, not sure if two leged RGB LEDs even exist? if anyone can help me out on this it would be great, CHEERS!!

I'm not sure, but it would be cool (and very difficult) if the lights changed color depending on how much of the "electricity" was given off by the device near it.

Did anything ever come about with the RGB LED's? Looking at actually making a wall out of this design.

How would one go about making an indeuction coil using magnet wire. I tried wrapping some magent wire around a metal center but it didn't pickup anything. Is there a optimal specification for the coil. If so, what works best. A link to a product would be greatly appreciated.

i would layer safety glass on top of the acrylic if you plan on using it as a primary work surface. it's more stable and scratch resistant. if you could find frosted safety glass that'd be beautiful.

How thick was the translucent acrylic that you put on the top side? It appears to be fairly thick, but I can't tell. I'm interested in building one with additional modifications and will be using it as my primary workspace, so I don't want to flex under the weight of books or a laptop.
