Introduction: Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme - Copycat Recipe

Picture of Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme - Copycat Recipe

As a college student, fast food is my Achilles heel. When I'm cramming for a test or staying up all night writing a research paper, Taco Bell has been one of my best friends. Wanting to start saving money and eat healthier, this Crunchwrap Supreme copycat recipe was born.

Step 1: Cook Ground Beef

  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Paprika

  1. Brown meat in a large skillet on medium heat, drain fat
  2. Add 3/4 cup water
  3. Mix in seasonings
  4. Bring to boil for 5 minutes stirring occasionally

Step 2: Prep Ingredients

For the copycat recipe you will need the following:

  • Ground Beef (see previous step)
  • Queso (nacho cheese sauce)
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Diced Tomatoes
  • Sour Cream

If you'd like to add other ingredients not contained in the original Crunchwrap Supreme, the following make excellent additions:

  • Refried Beans
  • Black Beans
  • Olives
  • Rice
  • Corn
  • Avocados
  • Guacamole
  • Diced Onions
  • Pico de Gallo

Step 3: Tortillas and Tostadas

For the Crunchwrap Supreme, you will need to purchase or make the largest flour tortillas possible.

You can purchase or make your own tostada shells. To make your own, brush both sides of a corn tortilla with vegetable oil, bake on a cookie sheet for 3-5 minutes at 400°F.

Step 4: Tortilla

Warm the tortilla in a skillet.

It looks great and all but you've modified the Taco Bell version quite a bit by using actual, real beef. Not very authentic. ;7)

I'm trying your version for the kids this weekend.

I tried to find the fake beef at the store, but Taco Bell must have monopoly on the supplier. :) Let me know how yours turn out!

You could probably cook some sawdust in grease with taco seasonings as a substitute :D

Seeing how you are a community manager, college graduate and have great Instructables.... Maybe you should run for president next term under the "Instructables Party"! I think the Pentagon would have some interesting new implementations!

mybriet (author)2015-03-26

probably healthier too! :-D

Moose Art Design (author)2015-03-16

Yeah this looks incredible, but I'm gonna have to stop by a Taco Bell for the fountain Big Red at least.

That's a funny way to say Baja Blast.

Rollin through a Taco Bell at 2:30 in the morning affords you special opportunities. Like free Baja Blasts because they are slow.... maybe something to do with them working at a Taco Bell at night lol

Maaaan, none of our Taco Bells are open that late. 12 or 1 at the most if we're lucky.

Super, real meat an all...

SpinninJenny (author)2015-03-17

I made this for my grandkids at home when Taco Bell first introduced the CrunchWrap. They were amazed that it could be made at home! I don't like tostados, so I used just corn taco chips that I had on hand. I like these better for CrunchWraps. BTW, I've made a similar breakfast wrap, and they turned out very good! Great Instructable!

I make these all the time! I get tortillas that are about 15" across, then grill the in the George Foreman to seal them up. If you can't find tortillas big enough, you can cut a tortilla in 4 and use one piece to fill in the middle where the smaller tortilla doesn't cover. I also like to add refried beans in mine sometimes.

And to those saying Taco Bell uses "fake" beef, there is nothing fake about it, it's just freeze dried. It at some point was cow, it's just highly processed.

Forgot to add a picture of the tortillas I use!

clazman (author)2015-03-17

Make a couple dozen, freeze them and then ship them to me. Don't forget the dry ice. lol

Just let me know your cost.

yummy yummy

That will cover the first months order.

Oh, somebody has beat me to it..

vazglavnichko (author)2015-03-12

crank_girl (author)2015-03-11

Yum! As a Brit I've only recently been introduced to the artery clogging delights of taco bell. :)

lj1vukoder (author)2015-03-09

Can we get a breakfast crunch wrap too?

tomatoskins (author)lj1vukoder2015-03-10

I've actually never had one. I'll need to try one sometime and let you know how it goes!

lj1vukoder (author)tomatoskins2015-03-10

I hope to see it soon! WARNING: they are addicting...

Snowflakepixie77 (author)2015-03-09
