All the standard taco toppings on a pizza, customized to your tastes... delicious as it is bad for you. So you should probably share so you don't eat it all yourself. :D
Step 1: Ingredients!
- pizza crust of your choice - or you can even make them on pitas, tortillas, naan - your choice!
- refried beans
- ground beef, crumbled chorizo OR black beans
- taco seasoning - buy it or make your own!
- shredded cheese
- additional toppings of your choice - jalapenos, black olives, lettuce, onions, sour cream, tomatoes, etc.
Step 2: Prep your crust!
I bought my dough frozen, so I had to let it hang out from defrosting in the fridge and come to room temperature and rise a bit. :)
Step 3: Prep the veggies!
Go ahead and cut up whatever you'll be putting on the pizza as it bakes. I'm doing olives, jalapenos and onions. :D
Chop them to whatever size you like!
Step 4: Cook the meat or beans, preheat the oven.
Throw your proteins in a pan with your taco seasoning and cook cook cook until delicious.
If you're doing any kind of meat, make sure you drain the fat off before you put in the seasoning - it'll make the finished product awful slimy. ;)
I'm baking my pizza at 450 F, so I'll set the oven to that now!
Step 5: Spice/microwave the refried beans!
I highly recommend adding some chili powder and/or cumin to your refried beans. Most of them just don't have enough flavor on their own.
I'd say I did about a 1/2 T of both. Mix them in and microwave for a minute or so... it'll make it easier to spread on the crust!
