Tacos and pizza together at last. It's a beautiful thing.

All the standard taco toppings on a pizza, customized to your tastes... delicious as it is bad for you. So you should probably share so you don't eat it all yourself. :D

Step 1: Ingredients!

  • pizza crust of your choice - or you can even make them on pitas, tortillas, naan - your choice!
  • refried beans
  • ground beef, crumbled chorizo OR black beans
  • salsa
  • taco seasoning - buy it or make your own!
  • shredded cheese
  • additional toppings of your choice - jalapenos, black olives, lettuce, onions, sour cream, tomatoes, etc.

Step 2: Prep Your Crust!

I bought my dough frozen, so I had to let it hang out from defrosting in the fridge and come to room temperature and rise a bit. :)

Step 3: Prep the Veggies!

Go ahead and cut up whatever you'll be putting on the pizza as it bakes. I'm doing olives, jalapenos and onions. :D

Chop them to whatever size you like!

Step 4: Cook the Meat or Beans, Preheat the Oven.

Throw your proteins in a pan with your taco seasoning and cook cook cook until delicious.

If you're doing any kind of meat, make sure you drain the fat off before you put in the seasoning - it'll make the finished product awful slimy. ;)

I'm baking my pizza at 450 F, so I'll set the oven to that now!

Step 5: Spice/microwave the Refried Beans!

I highly recommend adding some chili powder and/or cumin to your refried beans. Most of them just don't have enough flavor on their own.

I'd say I did about a 1/2 T of both. Mix them in and microwave for a minute or so... it'll make it easier to spread on the crust!

Step 6: Get the Crust Ready!

Oil a large baking sheet and set it aside. Place your dough on a clean surface, stretching and pressing it gently into the shape you want and then transfer it to the oiled baking sheet.

Remember to not be too rough with it - and don't use a rolling pin or you'll lose all the lovely bubbly texture. If you're having issues working with your crust, try this awesome instructable.

I fought with this one. I have decided it is "artisan."

Step 7: Add Your Toppings!

Start with a thin layer of refried beans, then a layer of salsa, then your meat/beans, and then the veggies and finally - cheese!

Use as little or as much as you want - my amounts are only suggestions. :D

Anything that you have leftover - and you will have leftovers - can be made into additional pizzas, nachos or tacos!

Step 8: Bake!

At 450 F, I'm going to be baking it for about 15-20 minutes, depending on when the crust looks done. It's all about how it looks and smells, really. Just keep checking it. :)

Step 9: Serve!

You can top with lettuce and tomatoes if you like, or sour cream and hot sauce - it's up to you. :D

I'd like to recommend cabbage and sour cream mixed with sriracha - that's what we top our nachos with at home, and it's amazing.
