Introduction: Tamale Pie
Tamale Pie is one of my favorite dishes to make for any gathering. Everyone that I have made it for loves it and I hope you will too.
Step 1: Ingredients
Here is a list of ingredients you will need:
1 1/2 Lbs. Ground Beef
1 pack of taco seasoning
2 cans of rotel
2 cans of cream of chicken soup
1/2 small onion chopped
1/2 bell pepper chopped
2-3 jalapeno peppers seeded and chopped
16 ounce box of American process cheese (or velveeta)
1 13 ounce bag of unsalted tortilla chips finely crushed
Step 2: Brown Ground Beef
Pre- heat oven to 350 F. Brown ground beef, onion and bell pepper on medium heat until done.
Step 3: Add Ingredients
Drain the ground beef leaving a small amount of grease in the pot with the ground beef and add the rotel, cream of chicken soup, taco seasoning,chopped jalapeno and 1 soup can full of water.
Step 4: Simmer
Stir and let mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes.
Step 5: Layer
In a pyrex dish layer ingredients in this order:
half of the meat mixture, half of the crushed chips, thin slices of american processed cheese (velveeta)
and repeat this process.
* note* I usually use somewhere between 1/2 to 3/4 of the box of velveeta.
Step 6: Bake and Enjoy
Cover dish with foil and bake in a 350F oven for about 15-20 minutes or until tamale pie is simmering. Remove from oven and stir tamale pie with a spoon. Serve and enjoy!
