Introduction: Tandoori Chicken in Oven

Many people asked me on my You tube Channel - Yes I can cook that whenever we make tandoori chicken in an oven it gets very dry else it remains uncooked. So here I tried my best to ensure that tandoori chicken doesn't get's dry and also is well cooked and believe me result wasn't bad in fact it was pretty good indeed.

One can get simple audio and video instructions along with the subtitles in the video,

Also we have videos for Tandoori chicken on gas (No Oven and No Tandoori needed),

Also you can try making Tandoori chicken in a pan

Step 1:

Step 2: Marination

Picture of Marination

Ingredients for tandoori chicken,

2 Chicken whole legs (Around 400g)

*******First marination*******

Red chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp Salt - As per your taste Lime juice - 1 tbsp

*******Second marination*******

1/2-1 cup thick curd. Little more salt 1/2 tbsp of Red chilli powder. 1/2 tbsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 Garam masala powder. One tbsp of ginger garlic paste. Very little oil - 1/4 - 1/2 tbsp

Step 3: Cooking

Picture of Cooking

Wash Chicken and pat dry and make random slits on it to absorb spices.

Now coat the chicken pieces well using ingredients mentioned under first marination.

Once chicken pieces are coated well leave the chicken to marinate for 20 minutes.

Take all the ingredients mentioned under Second marination, mix them and make a paste as shown.

Now coat the chicken pieces with above paste.

Once chicken pieces are coated well leave the chicken pieces to marinate atleast for 2 hours.

Leaving it for marination for 8 hours or overnight will be the best.

If putting in a refrigerator, once you start cooking take the pieces out atleast 30 minutes to 1 hour before.

Preheat the oven for around 10 minutes on max temperature or 180C/356 F.

Meanwhile apply some oil on microwave stand with the help of brush or fingers.

Also set aside some butter or ghee (clarified butter) which will be needed while roasting the chicken.

Place the chicken leg on microwave stand after shaking off the extra marinade in a bowl and apply some butter to the chicken piece.

Now put this stand with chicken pieces in microwave once preheating is done.

Let it bake for around 8 minutes. Sometimes in between check if you need to apply some butter and ensure it is not sticking to stand or getting overcooked. (Because different ovens provides temperature it provides )

After 8 minutes take out the chicken pieces from oven and apply little butter on both sides.

Put it again in oven after flipping/turning the sides.

This time put it for 6 minutes so that same don't gets overcooked (If required we will put it again).

Take out the chicken pieces out. Check and make sure they are cooked well. If more cooking is required apply the left over marinade and again put the chicken pieces for a minute.

Keep repeating the cycle of cooking for a minute till the chicken pieces are cooked as per your requirement. After each minute cooking cycle apply the butter and keep turning the side.

After 3-4 one minute cycles my tandoori chicken is ready to eat.

I ensured here that tandoori chicken doesn't get's dry and also well cooked.

In the next video I will show you how to give the taste of smoky charcoal to tandoori chicken. Serve it hot with onions, tomato, lemon wedges and vertically cut green chilli.

Depending on your taste sprinkle some chat masala or black pepper powder.
