Looks like a merkin to me.
Merkin discussed in last Septembers Textile Center of Minnesota newsletter:
www.textilecentermn.org/news/2009_09_01_archive.asp
This caught my eye because I misread the first word as "Tattered". But now I see the actual topic. But wouldn't you need to add some blue and white to the design for it to be truly American?
why to be truly american??? mabie he isnt from america...and why do you americans put your flag on everything??? i am sure that you are putting your flag on a toilet paper, so when you go to the toilet you will see your flag...
FYI: it's 'maybe' & yeah, American flag print toilet paper is a staple here in the USA. Like apple pie & baseball....we can't get enough!
It's a play on the difference between merkins and 'Merkins, as our Texas politicians are wont to call us. I did not think I was going to have to explain this joke to this audience. Sigh. But I see your post was on April 1, so maybe I'm missing your joke.
Haha this is old but it made me laugh. You are so right. :D
A "merkin," not American. You might want to look that up, since I don't really wanna discuss merkins here.
I'm guessing you're too young to have witnessed LBJs addresses to "Mah fellow 'merkins." It's a standing joke to us older folks. We all know what "real merkins" are, unlike Sarah Palin, George Bush and Rick Perry.
Thank you VERY much for taking the time to create such a wonderful tutorial!! I am almost done with the front part of these. I am doing them in an antique white cotton thread.
Just finished making my first flower and it came out pretty good. I'm sort of confused about the turning or RW because no matter what I did some of my outer petals are twisted. I turned it and secured it like you did in your video series but still twisted. =( Is the one in the picture blocked? Will have to practice some more but if you could give a tip so it is not twisted or what I might be doing wrong I would appreciate it

Jamie
I had the same problem on my first couple of tries, but then in the tutorial on youtube I noticed agaunset was turning the piece over to the left. I don't know if that was what fixed my problem, but it hasn't happened again yet. (You've probably figured this out by now nine months later...)
If I had been on here earlier, I would have voted for you! Wow..I love this. Very nice work.
